ABOUT OVE

100% renewable energy does not prohibit reading your morning paper on a sunny balcony!
OVE works for a resource concius and environmentally responsable energy policy based on energy self-sufficiency from renewable energy sources. OVE's goal is 100% renewable energy in the world and we belive that Denmark has the ability to achieve this goal by 2030.
OVE is an ngo without association to any political parties. We work with anyone who can assist us with reaching our goal.
The work is carried out on an idealistic, non-profit basis, and aims at openness and free dissemination of knowledge. We believe that a redirection in the consumption patterns and a change to RE supply sources and systems will not succeed unless we get a strong popular involvement. Therefore there is a need for building up strong forces in the society in order to maintain a favourable development.
Activities in Denmark
Besides advocacy on the highest political level, OVE's main activity in Denmark is to inform and disseminate information of renewable energy, energy conservation and ecological issues. Through national campaigns e.g. solar energy and wood fuel, we help to show how the environment can be improved at household level. We hold regular conferences “teach-ins” and courses on different subjects.
Energy service Denmark is our buggest activtiy in Denmark. Based on 12 regional offices around the counrty, all danes are offered free an unbiased advice on energy conservation in their private hopusehold. Energy service Denmark also trains craftsmen and cooperates with craftsmens-associations to improve the technical knowledge of renewable energy among energy professionals, and has extensicve activies in the public schools provided well tested teaching material and exercises for energy education.
OVE publishes the bimopnthly magazine "Vedvarende Energi & Miljø" (Sustainable Energy & Environment) that contains articles on recent technological developments, danish and european energy policy, international developments and articles on the member's own experiences with renewable energy.
International activities
Since the Rio-summit in 1992, OVE has worked with partners in Eastern Europe and developing countries. In 1992 we were one of the funding ngo's of the International Network for Sustainable Energy, INFORSE. OVE's international work is based on the principles of Agenda 21 also created in 1992.
Today, OVE has 8 large energy- and environment projects in developing countries (Vietnam, Kenya, Mozambique and Mali) that seeks a more sustainable ressource management based on local ownership.
In Europe, we advocate in EU for more renewable energy and better energy conservation policies. We also run the secretariat of the european branch of INFORSE.
